"New York State is unique in the United States because it not only considers its cultural agencies to be an integral part of its educational system, it incorporates such agencies under Education Law instead of under Corporation Law."

The Century House Historical Society is proud to have been granted an Absolute ("permanent") Charter by the New York State Board of Regents.

We celebrated this accomplishment at a reception at the Snyder Estate on September 17, 2000.

David W. Palmquist,
Program Manager of the
Chartering Program
at the New York State Museum,
was one of the distinguished guests. The New York State Musuem is a program of the NYS Education Department.

We were particularly honored by
the presence of
NY State Assemblyman Kevin Cahill, who presented a Certificate of Merit to Society Secretary, Gayle Grunwald,
on behalf of the Assembly
of the State of New York.
